Our venue isn’t just a building.
The character of Shaker Village plays an important role in the weekend. You’ll find acres of wooded grounds that sparkle with fall foliage—a relaxing atmosphere that’s the perfect backdrop for conversation. There’s also inspiring Shaker design, and regional food and hospitality to make you feel at home.

Shaker Village is a faithfully restored 18th century Shaker community located in Pleasant Hill, Kentucky. The Village is a model of historic preservation, where visitors can experience the pastoral setting of the past and discover Shaker design ideals.
Rooms and Rates
Accommodations are available on-site at Shaker Village and at nearby Beaumont Inn. The deadline to reserve your room within the AIGA block is August 31, 2008. After August 31, AIGA will cancel remaining rooms from our block.
Shaker Village rates are $95/night.
Beaumont Inn rates are $120/night. Breakfast is included.

Travel By Car
From Lexington - Follow Harrodsburg Road, US 68 West approximately 25 miles. The entrance to Shaker Village is on the right.
From Cincinnati - Follow I-75 South to Lexington. Take exit #115, Newtown Pike. Turn right onto Newtown Pike. Follow Newtown Pike 1 ½ miles to New Circle Road, KY 4. Take exit #2, Harrodsburg Road. Turn right onto Harrodsburg Road, US 68 West and follow approximately 25 miles. The entrance to Shaker Village is on the right.
We encourage all participants, especially groups, to consider sharing resources by carpooling. Please email Kristine Shuey if you are interested in carpooling with others from your area. Attendees from similar regions who have shown interest in carpooling will be put in touch with each other to finalize plans.
Travel By Plane
The nearest airport is Bluegrass International Airport in Lexington, KY. Guests arriving by plane are responsible for arranging ground transportation to Shaker Village, approximately 30 minutes away from the airport.

Simple Living Reminder
Your stay at Shaker Village will likely be a departure from your normal routine. Mobile phone reception can be intermittent or nonexistent, depending on your carrier. For most guests, placing and receiving mobile phone calls will prove difficult on the Village grounds. An Internet connection is not available at the conference site, though there is another building on the Village campus where Wi-Fi and dial-up connections are available. Please plan accordingly.
Dress
Casual, comfortable dress is recommended, as are good walking shoes and warm outerwear. You may find yourself interested in light outdoor activities during your stay, such as exploring the trails that criss cross the property or simply strolling the Village grounds.
To better enjoy the Friday evening boat ride, please come prepared with several layers of warm clothing. October evenings can be chilly, especially on the water.
Guests
You are welcome to bring outside guests with you to enjoy a weekend at the Village. However, only registered conference attendees may participate in Design Revival activities and meals.
